Did you know that 95% of the business opportunities on the Internet are scams? Consumers are loosing tens of millions of dollars every year due to fraudulent Internet home business opportunities.
The Internet is the newest medium that scam artists use to rip off people looking for a real business opportunity or just to increase their income. The victims of these frauds include stay at home parents, the elderly, unemployed, disabled, people with low income, true entrepreneurs, and people expecting to get rich quick.
The Department of Justice and the FTC are cracking down on these illegal operations. FTC Chairman Deborah Platt Majoras said “Bogus business opportunities trample on Americans’ dreams of financial independence. These scams offer only a money pit, where no matter how much time and money is invested, consumers never achieve the riches and financial freedom promised.”
Most people surfing the Internet looking for a home based business, work at home, or a business opportunity are victims of websites and advertisements containing systems or opportunities that either don’t work, are misleading, or whose only purpose is to take their hard earned money.
Beware of 'get rich quick' work from home ads claiming you can earn thousands of dollars in a short period of time. Besides loosing money, you can also waste valuable time, ruin your reputation and be held liable by involuntarily selling fraudulent products and/or services.
The best way to avoid being a victim of these frauds is by getting educated on the home business market in general. This includes reading articles/reviews about common home business scams, doing a background check on the potential company to join, checking the company out with the Better Business Bureau, and signing up only with companies that have a refund policy and customer support.
Many people get discouraged because they’ve tried numerous affiliate “business opportunities” that either made exaggerated promises or turned out to be scams. You can avoid being a victim of these scams by doing your own research. Knowledge is power only when you apply it appropriately.
Remember, real success can’t be achieved overnight. You need to take the time to learn all the necessary information about the area you choose and find a good source that can provide you with the resources to develop and improve your skills. With the right amount of knowledge, effort and perseverance, you will succeed.
